Description
1950s vintage The Swingster Bowling Shirt.Vintage bowling shirt manufactured by The Swingster is "fully washable" per tag. Size tag states this shirt is a man's size Medium, with neck size of 15 - 15 1/2. Faded indigo blue fabric shirt has button down front, two button-breast pockets, a loop collar, cuff-look raglan sleeves and red thread chain stitching on the front and back.
Chain stitching on the front is of the name of the young man who originally wore this shirt -- Hartley -- from Duluth, Minnesota. Chain stitching on the back shows the name and crowing rooster logo of the business that sponsored Hartley's bowling team -- "The Flamette" -- a motel, restaurant, gas station combo that had been located on Lemon Drop Hill in Duluth (named Lemon Drop Hill because of The Flamette -- which was originally called Lemon Drop Cafe).
Shirt is not marked for fabric content, but it is machine washable. Size says it is a men's Medium.
Measurements I took with shirt buttoned closed and lying flat --
Top back collar to bottom back of shirt = 30 1/2"
Armpit to armpit = 21"
Length of sleeves = 4 1/2"
Vintage bowling shirt is in good condition. Shirt has discoloration on tops of sleeves along hanger line, and there is a small hole in the fabric on the front above Hartley. That hole is hidden somewhat under the loop, but you can see the little bugger in some photos.
