Big Vintage Sterling Agate Slab Cufflinks MidCentury Modern Fab Color & Design
Sculpture for your cuffs!  With the clean lines and cool design that characterize the best mid-century modern silver, these fabulous cufflinks are wearable sculptures in sterling and stone.  The striated colors in the agate squares are not just eye catching, they are quite mesmerizing.  Painterly, in rich and varied shades of reddish brown, honey amber, cream and white, they seem to glow with motion in the play of light.  (In person, they look more translucent in places, and the honey colored bands more transparent, than they do in the photos.)  Great pains were taken in the cutting of the stone and the squares so the bands and striations are placed at interesting angles with movement emanating from the corners of the links.  What a fabulous example of artistry in sterling and stone.
Form follows function and the sterling setting folds around the agate squares at the centers of all four sides in a kind of scalloped shape that holds them securely, like photos in an album, while adding immeasurably to the cufflinks' great look.  Not just eyecatching, these links are simply mesmerizing like a landscape in changing light.
They measure about 1-1/16" square and weigh 22 grams.

They are in Very Good / Excellent vintage condition with just surface dirt, expected minor scratches, the usual irregularities in the natural stone and tarnish.  The silver has a lovely vintage patina; cleaning and polishing are left to the buyer's discretion.
