Large Vintage Sterling Agate Cufflinks MidCentury Modern Patterns Mr. FlintstoneStone landscapes for your cuffs! Cufflinks Fred Flintstone might have worn! The shapes, patterns and colors in these agate stones are painterly, in varied shades of cloudy gray, sienna, beige, flesh tones, barley and black, that change shade and saturation near the edges with motion in the play of light. The prong-set stones were carefully considered and cut to maximize interest and frame the forms within. The size and shape of the two stones are different, as are the patterns and colors they hold, all of which adds interest to them and to your cuffs. These eye catching links are a wonderful example of artistry in sterling and stone.
While not uniform, they measure approximately 1-5/8" by about 1-3/16" by about 1/4" deep and weigh 33.1 grams.
They are signed "Ster.Pat.2472958" on the underside of the swiveling backs. (Next to last photo.) There was not really room for a sterling stamp on the silver arms that were fashioned by hand as prongs to hold the stone slabs securely.
The edges are rough here and there and there is calcification (see photos). Apart from this, which is not at all recent and appears entirely stable, they are in Very Good vintage condition with just surface dirt, scratches, irregularities in the natural stone and tarnish. The silver has a lovely, dark vintage patina that is most harmonious with the grey and sienna colors of the stones; cleaning and polishing are left to the buyer's discretion.
These links will be a superb addition to your collection and look sensational on your cuff. Belonging equally in collections of studio jewelry, sterling or stone jewelry and of course, cufflinks, they would make a terrific gift and will come to you in a gift box just in case. A Wonderful Large Pair of Vintage Sterling and Agate Cufflinks and a Wearable Work of Art to Add to Your Collection of Quality and Distinction.
