ALFRED SHAHEEN VTG 40s 50s SILK 'SAMURAI WARRIORS' ALOHA/HAWAIIAN SHIRT
Highly Collectible!! Museum Worthy!!

A Rarity of Print; the master printer, Alfred Shaheen's exceptional and exquisite Silk print of
Samurai Warriors and Japanese Temples.
Taupe/tan ground on finest silk with printed 'Samurai Warriors' on horseback in full combat mode!
Short-sleeve Aloha/Hawaiian shirt with left chest pocket and 5 Asian coin style silvertone buttons.
The print is even aligned on the chest patch pocket!
(Loop for button on front collar, but no button present under collar)
Early SHAHEEN Brown satin label. Likely early 50s; possibly even late 40s era (Shaheen started his first manufacturing in 1948.....)!
ALFRED SHAHEEN Honolulu. 100% Silk. Size Men's Medium.
Condition is good considering age; there are some faint spots/stains; but most of the gray specks and spots shown in close-up photos are part of the print! Some faint body perspiration stains; and the delicate hem fold/crease is stress-split in places; with a small b.b. size hole/fray in the underside of collar. Collar has interior collar stays that are somewhat 'rumpled'.
Ultimately, Still wearable with care; would be best displayed as Fine Art!!

Alfred Shaheen
was the most creative and prolific Hawaiian manufacturer in the heyday of post-WWII fashion.
Shaheen pioneered Hawai’i’s garment manufacturing industry by stretching beyond the limits imposed by the isolation of the Hawaiian Islands. During pre-statehood Hawai’i, a critical time in Hawai’i’s economic development, Shaheen built the most comprehensive textile printing, garment manufacturing, and retail company Hawai’i would ever see. Shaheen accomplished this feat through his vision, inventiveness, engineering brilliance, and unreserved commitment to authenticity and excellence.
Alfred Shaheen’s textile designs and fabrics are legendary and were inspired by Hawai’i, the South Pacific, and Asia. By studying their native designs and adapting them to textiles, Shaheen brought us such Hawaiian classics as the
