Description
The Elektronika IM-05 is considered one of the rarest Soviet electronic chess computers. Just google it both in English and Russian and you won't find any available for sale.It was manufactured at the Svetlana factory in St. Petersburg, Russia. The first IM-05 computer was sold in 1993. Elektronika IM-05 is the last of the series of Soviet electronic chess computers - IM-01, IM-01T and IM05 - no more similar products were issued after due to the factory shutdown in 1993. Unfortunately, very few models have been reserved up to date. Elektronika, the brand name, is mainly associated with calculators, computers, watches and video games, many of them reverse engineered clones. IM stands for microprocessor game.
The Elektronika IM-05 was a significant upgrade on the earlier IM-01 and IM-01T models with apparently several changes to its features. Seven levels are retained with response times which are quicker than the IM-01 but slower than IM-01T. Also three Mate finding levels were added as well as pieces movement assistance and analyses.
The Elektronika IM-05 is considered extremely rare in 2019. This is a NON-STANDARD IM-05 that has slightly different button labels compared to other IM-05 computers which makes it even more rare - please see the last picture (standard - on the left, non-standard - on the right).
Please note that I do not have a manual (it was in Russian anyway) and a box. You get exactly what you see on the photos - no more, no less.
