  • Condition: The piece is not useable as a tie clip as it is. The base of the clip piece has come away from the peg that holds it in place and provides the resistance against the spring.

    Description

    For auction is a vintage, 14 karat, solid, yellow gold tie clip made by Sykes & Strandberg.  The piece is about 2 inches wide at its widest and 2 inches tall at its tallest.  It weighs 9 grams.  The back is marked on the attached decorative figure 14K and with the Sykes & Strandberg S & S mark.  The tab on the clip is also marked 14KT.  The entire piece is solid gold except for the tiny spring in the clip hinge. The decorative front is a relief figure of what looks to be a bow hunting native American Indian.  This is in very good condition.
    The clip is barely useable as a tie clip.  The tab piece has twisted away from the catches that held it securely in place.  I don't know whether it is repairable.  I am pricing it at gold value.
